Love, Loss and What I Wore | Westside Theatre

Love, Loss and What I Wore | Westside Theatre

“Love, Loss and What I Wore” is exactly what the title says. The play shows how five women recall their lives’ unforgettable moments and the clothes they wore on those occasions. Backed by a common love for black dresses and black articles of clothing, the nostalgic and fashionable trip to memory lane is led by Gingy. She and others in their little club take a blast from the past, from quirky bathrobe moments that create tension between one of the ladies and her stepchildren, to wedding fashion faux pas statements, to closet raids and musings that give the audiences a glimpse of the ladies’ fashion statements that change through time, from all styles and cuts of black dresses, to cowboy boots and some cringe worthy wardrobe pieces like the mom jeans, this play will bring out the inner fashionista in you while relating to the ladies’ stories of love, loss and what they wore on all of those.

Indeed, “Love, Loss and What I Wore” is the quintessential play for girl friends out there that are looking for a highly entertaining story told through the power, rawness and ingenuity of the stage, rather than the silver screen. It is the quintessential chick flick beautifully crafted for the stage, which girl friends, mothers and daughters can all enjoy.

The play continues to play at the Westside Theatre along West 43rd Street throughout the week except for Mondays.

“Love, Loss and What I Wore” is directed by Karen Carpenter and written for the stage by Delia and Nora Ephron. It is based on the book of the same title written by Ilene Beckerman.
