The Addams Family | Lunt-Fontanne Theatre
The world’s favorite quirky and undead family, The Addams Family, continues to be staged in a Broadway musical eight times a week at its Great White Way home at the Lune-Fontanne Theatre until January 2011.
“The Addams Family” musical is an adaptation of the famous cartoon series created by Charles Addams along with the numerous TV series and films carrying the same title and story line. In the musical, the story fast forwards to about 10 years where Wednesday, the ghoulish daughter of Gomez and Morticia Addams, has fallen in love with Lucas Beineke, a “normal” being and nothing like the macabre-loving Addams clan. Riot begins when Wednesday invites Lucas and his entire family over the Addams’ residence in Central Park to meet and greet the ghastly family including other pale and horrific house “residents” like a giant squid who would not hesitate to entangle its tentacles on anyone.
Featuring the talents of Nathan Lane as Gomez and Bebe Neuwirth as the “colder she gets, hotter she seems” (David Cote, Time Out New York), Morticia, “The Addams Family” musical is a hilarious creepy comedy with an all-new story to tell but all the same characters – with a few additions – we’ve learned to love and not be frightened of like Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester and Lurch. The musical also sings and dances to the compositions of Tony Award nominee Andrew Lippa and is adapted to the stage by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice.
